Stan: All right folks, today is the day, its time to get realHi, this is Stan Smith from 90 Day Recovery and I’m glad that you downloaded this video. I know that this is a difficult subject. I’m sure you didn’t wake up this morning looking forward to finding out if you are an alcoholic. But if you are here then you are looking for answers, and I’ll try my best to answer some of your questions in this video.

I’m often asked, “Are there definite signs that would show that I have a problem with drinking?” And, while only you can determine if you are an alcoholic, there are some signs that you can watch for in your own behavior. But for this to work you need to be honest with yourself. Try to view your behavior from the eyes of somebody observing your life from the outside looking in. If you can honestly say that you show any of these 10 signs, seek help immediately.

Lets get started.

The first sign is that you get annoyed; you get irritated if someone criticizes or questions how much you are drinking. As the old saying goes, the truth hurts. Listen to your emotions the next time someone asks you about your drinking. If you are getting a little hot under the collar you may need to ask yourself why.

Next, if you routinely put yourself or others in danger while drinking. Or if you know that a DUI is coming your way the next time you are stopped by the police then you are showing a classic sign of being an alcoholic. And if you already have been charged with a DUI and you are continuing to drink and drive then you definitely need to get help today.

Three, you don’t know where your money is going. Having fights over where the weekly budget has gone, then its time to get real about how your drinking habit is hurting your finances. And remember, if you drinking is negatively impacting any part of your life then you are at risk of being an alcoholic.

Are you constantly showing up late for work? Are you using an excessive amount of sick days to recover from your drinking binges? Then your drinking is impacting an important part of your life, its messing with your job. Remember, non-alcoholics don’t routinely miss work due to excessive drinking.

Lets take a look at number five. Do you find that you are obsessively focused on planning your next social occasion? I remember being consumed with how I was going to sneak a drink in during my lunch hour. I thought about it, I planned for it constantly. How about you?

Six, are you fighting with your spouse or your loved ones about your drinking? Remember, an alcoholic continues to drink even if its causing negative consequences in their life. If you insist on drinking even when it strains the relationships that mean the most to you then you should seriously consider seeking help.

Which leads us to number seven. If you are hiding your drinking, or drinking alone to avoid questions from friends and family then you behavior matches that of an alcoholic.

And as you addiction deepens you may exhibit the eighth sign of alcoholism, which is continuing to drink even though your health may be suffering. I remember staying a night in the hospital due to heart problems induced by my heavy drinking. And the very next day I was drinking. My health didn’t stop me, I was addicted. How about you?

Number nine gets right to the point. Deep down you know that your drinking is harming you, your career and those you care about most. If you find yourself feeling guilty after drinking, perhaps frantically trying to remember what you might have said or did while drinking then you are most likely slipping into alcohol addiction. You need to take a hard look.

And number 10, but most of all, if you know you must stop but you can’t then get help now. Constantly making and breaking promises to stop drinking only accelerates your slide into all out alcoholism.

I encourage you to see these 10 signs as opportunities to take a U-turn and get help now. A great place to start is the 90 day recovery blog at: www.90dayrecovery.com/blog. I do believe that alcoholism is an illness - of both body and “Soul”. Although you can dry out an alcoholic they will go back to drinking unless you deal with the illness of the soul. - Believe me, I’ve had alcohol cravings long (2 years) after the alcohol was out of my system. I am only able to stay sober because I am fighting the “craving for escape” in my heart. - Stay tuned.

One of the toughest times of the day for most Alcoholics is first thing in the morning. You’ve got your whole day ahead of you - and it can scare the living crap out of you. When I was drinking, the only thing I thought about was “how early can I start drinking?”.

When I started my recovery, I had a similar question - how in the heck am I going to stay sober through lunch? For months I batteled through the morning holding on to my sobriety by the thinnest thread.

Until, I sat down and wrote out what caused me to want to drink in the morning. I found out that I was dreading the stress that I was sure to face in the office. The little demons that pestered me with questions about my worth. I realized that I was so wound up by time I got into the office that I was ripe for a relapse.

So I started to repeat several powerful affirmations to myself for 3 minutes when I arrived at work. These affirmations centered me, reminded me of who I was - and what I was becoming. Over time, I started to believe these affirmations - and my mornings became simpler and simpler to work through.

Today, I love the early morning hours. I am productive, content, and ready to tackle the day’s challenges. But it all started with a few simple affirmations some three years ago.

That’s why I’m happy to share these affirmations with you in the form of another MindMovie. Play this movie every single morning for 90 Days. This will help center you for the day ahead.

I’ve put the movie in the new 90Day Library for your convenience. You can view and download the movie here

All the Best!

I’ve been a recovered Alcoholic for 3 years and this month is the first time I’ve ever heard of “National Recovery Month”!

I’m pretty clued into the recovery process - and I’m a little flustered that I never knew about a National Recovery Month. It gets me wondering if somehow the whole addiction recovery process is broken. I mean, if you are struggling with an addiction, why is it so hard to find the resources needed to start the recovery process? A person dragging themselves through each day is not going to have the time or energy to track down solid practical recovery strategies.

Even during National Recovery Month, nothing has changed. No PSA commercials, stepped-up “Say No to Drugs” campaigns in the schools, a new logo on the Google homepage (ok, that is asking too much - but you get the point). Does anyone really care?

What do you think?

It simple said - “I need help”. Those words knocked me on my butt with a simple question. What could I possibly offer that would help BJ and other people immediately?

At about 11:30 Saturday night - the answer hit me.

Why don’t I take all of the most powerful affirmations that I’ve used over the years and focus them into a

Stunning

Powerful

Penetrating

Memorable

Movie? Now I wish that I could take credit for this myself. But I can’t. You see I am a avid practioneer of The Law of Attraction (I call it “Faith” but more on that later). Over the last couple of years - the Law of Attraction has been popularized by the mini-movie “The Secret” - which has been on Oprah, Ellen, and other popular talk shows.

Aside from all the glitz and star power. The Secret does speak to a powerful natural law called the Law of Attraction. Which simply says - Whatever you desire with intense emotional, physical, and mental focus - the Universe will deliver. For the last three year’s I’ve used this law to create the Alcohol Free - Intensely Satisfying Sober life that I am living right now.

It works. Plain and simple.

Now, I’ve found that the best way to visualize desire in a way that get’s the universe moving - is to create a movie filled with strong visual images and sounds, and music. These movies literally speak to your subconscious and rewire your thoughts for recovery.

And just an hour ago - I finished a custom produced Recovery Mind Movie just for you.

When you get finished, come back here and tell me if this movie moved you -

P.S. If you want to learn how to make these movies for yourself - scoot on over to www.mindmovies.com
